Bolnore Village Scout Group celebrates ten years

By Amanda Saunders, Acting GSL, Bolnore Scout Group

Bolnore Village Scout Group is proud to have celebrated our tenth anniversary this year. We are a thriving group with a busy Beavers Colony and Cub Pack run by a very committed and enthusiastic leader team. We are also delighted to be restarting our Scout Troop, with sessions restarting in January.

The group is open to boys and girls, and we offer a huge range of fun and adventurous activities to give children a chance to learn new skills, discover new strengths and grow self-confidence. From cooking to rock climbing, camping to box karting, hiking to slime, and s’mores galore, the groups do all sorts! If you are interested in your child joining us, please contact us and/or come along to our informal open evening and trial session on Wednesday 16th November from 7.15-8.15pm. Children’s names can be put on the Beavers waiting list from age four to help guarantee their place in Beavers when they reach six. All groups meet at the Woodside.

Beavers (aged 6-8), meet on Tuesdays 5.15 – 6.30pm
Cubs (aged 8-10½), meet Tuesdays 6.30 – 8.00pm
Scouts (aged 10½ - 14), meet Weds 7.15 – 9.15pm

Like most activity groups, we are always in need of help and we have some vacancies. We have admin vacancies of group secretary and assistant membership secretary, both offering administrative support to the group. These roles only require a couple of hours a month, but will make a real difference to our executive committee.

We are also looking for enthusiastic individuals to help out with either the Beavers or Scouts sections, joining in the fun and helping to grow the new Scout Troop. If becoming an adult leader or executive committee member appeals to you, it can be a great opportunity to give yourself a new challenge, gain new qualifications as well as inspire young people whilst enjoying yourself. All adult leaders are given full training and are DBS checked. If you feel you would like to help or to just find out more, please email us at: gsl@bolnorescouts.org.uk.
