Cuckfield school receives grant to help disadvantaged learners
Sussex Learning Trust, based in Mid Sussex, is delighted to announce its Academies including Warden Park Secondary Academy (based on Broad Street, Cuckfield) and Northlands Wood Primary Academy, are in line to receive £75,000 grant funding to boost edtech support in schools.
Sussex Learning Trust has been chosen by the Department for Education (DfE) to provide advice to peers "most in need of support" with technology, including those "getting to grips with using a new online learning platform" and those "with the most disadvantaged learners".
The initial aim of the programme was to help schools use technology to reduce teacher workload; create efficiencies; improve accessibility; and "ultimately support excellent teaching and learning". But the DfE says it has since been "refocused" to help support remote teaching during the coronavirus crisis.
Sussex Learning Trust Academies will offer packages of support including guidance, online tutorials, webinars and recorded content.
Jonathan Morris, CEO “I am delighted that Sussex Learning Trust has been recognised in this first wave of funding and the timing is particularly pertinent given the pandemic the country faces. Our knowledge and experience can be put to good use to help local colleagues during this difficult time”.
